Why the Northeastern corner of Old Seminole Heights in Tampa?
Northeast Old Seminole Heights is a diverse multicultural working class community. It's about 40% Black, 30% White, and 26% Hispanic. It consists of of long-term residents and lots of new folk who have moved in because of Seminole Heights' increased popularity. There are a high percentage of teenagers and young adults, a majority of renters but an increasing number of home-owning professionals. A 25% poverty rate is combined with an ever-growing middle-class
Northeast Old Seminole Heights is ripe for a gospel-driven church living out racial reconciliation while pursuing personal, family and neighborhood restoration through the gospel of Jesus Christ and holistic discipleship.
Why do we think Living Faith is called to this community in Old Seminole Heights?
First of all Living Faith is a multicultural, multi-ethnic, and multi-generational gospel-driven church. So we fit well demographically with that community. Plus our vision of Love is Our Life: Love God, Love One Another, and Love Neighbor assumes active discipleship through evangelism and restoration, but also neighborhood advocacy and chaplaincy. We want to be a gospel church not just in the neighborhood, but for the neighborhood. Our pastor lives in Old Seminole Heights and our public school outreach ministry is anchored in Central Tampa.
Moreover, the Lord has given us an opportunity to purchase a church property in the northeastern area of Old Seminole Heights which can serve as our discipleship center and mission headquarters as we serve our city and soon establish similar diverse churches which lean to Black and Brown communities throughout Tampa Bay.
How can you partner with us?
Would you please pray for us and this Mission Heights campaign? We need the Lord's presence and power if we are going to effectively reach that community with the gospel.
The sale price on the property is $1,025,000
We have an additional $35,000 needed for closing costs and lender stipulations
We have been approved for a mortgage of $700,000, praise God!
Through the Lord's generosity, we are able to apply $200,000 from Living Faith's coffers toward the purchase
We need to raise $160,000 toward the down payment, closing costs, and stipulations by December 20, 2020.
Would you prayerfully consider partnering with us through financial contribution toward this goal?
